Now, a reader doesn’t have to trek to a bookstore, stand in line, or wait … technology, via Kindlegraph, makes it possible for readers and fans to get a personalized author autograph and inscription with just a click and a nod. (The nod is optional.)
- Do readers need to own a Kindle to receive a Kindlegraph? No, readers can enter a regular email address at the time of their request, and they will receive your Kindlegraph as a pdf attachment via email.
- Is the Kindlegraph inserted into the e-book? No, it is a separate document. This alows a reader to create a collection on her Kindle where she can keep all of her Kindlegraphs together.
- Do I need to have a Kindle version of my book to sign up for Kindlegraph? No, any book (even paperbacks and hardcovers) can be Kindlegraphed, as we simply attach your inscription and signature to a cover image of the book.
Kindlegraph: The Latest Thing in Electronic Publishing
by Smoky Trudeau Zeidel
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard that the sale of eBooks is now far outpacing the sale of print books. Even I, a die-hard book lover, have been lured over to the electronic side. While I still love print books, and buy many, I read a lot of books now on my beloved Kindle.
The problem with eBooks, though, is that you can’t get an autographed copy of a book. And for autograph collectors, this has proven to be a huge obstacle to falling in love with an eReader.
Not any longer. Meet Kindlegraph, the first electronic book signing program developed for Kindle.
With Kindlegraph, you can request a personalized signature from the author of many of your favorite books, including most books in the Vanilla Heart line up. All you do is go to the Kindlegraph Website, search for your favorite book, and click “request Kindlegraph.” Your electronic signature will be downloaded to your Kindle automatically, as soon as the author receives the request. The signature is not attached to the book itself, but rather, placed in a separate file. You can then collect Kindlegraphs from all your favorite authors participating in the program, and start an updated version of the old-fashioned autograph book, right on your Kindle!
“But I don’t have a Kindle!” you might protest. “I still read print books!” or “I have a different eReader!”
No problem! You can still request an author’s Kindlegraph. You will simply receive a copy of the author’s signature on a pdf copy of the book’s cover. You can then print it out and use it as a bookplate in your print edition, or place it in a file with Kindlegraphs from other favorite authors.
You do have to have a Twitter account in order to access Kindlegraph. If you aren’t on Twitter, don’t worry! They’ll connect you to the site, where obtaining an account is as easy as plugging in your email address. (You don’t even have to become an active user, if tweeting doesn’t appeal to you. You just need to have an account.)
As of this writing, there are more than 1500 authors and 7000 books listed on the Kindlegraph Website. Drop on by, and request Kindlegraphs from all your favorite VHP authors, and become a part of the biggest thing in electronic reading since the invention of the eBook!
